Pas de la Casa · Grau Roig
High altitude and reliable snow. Pas de la Casa has the liveliest atmosphere; Grau Roig, on the other side of the pass, is more sheltered and family-friendly.
Lessons in Pas de la CasaGrandvalira is the biggest ski area in the Pyrenees: over 200 km of pistes and six connected sectors. I teach across the whole area with bookings of half a day or a full day, in English, and I know the links well enough to keep you skiing rather than queueing.

Over 200 km of pistes and six connected sectors. Depending on your level and where you're staying, we work in one or another.

Lessons in Pas de la CasaThe heart of the ski area, with tree-lined pistes that are ideal for technique and families. Host of World Cup finals. My usual meeting points.
Lessons in SoldeuEasy access by gondola (the Funicamp from Encamp) and a quiet area in Canillo, with good facilities for beginners.
Where we meet
My usual meeting points are Soldeu and El Tarter: they have the best access and the most space to work on technique without the crowds. Lessons in Soldeu are especially good for polishing technique on long, varied pistes, and El Tarter has pleasant tree-lined stretches for families and anyone wanting more shelter.
That said, we go wherever makes most sense for you: if you're staying in Pas de la Casa, we meet there; if you want technique, we head towards Soldeu. We agree it when you book, based on your level and your goals.
Your instructor
As my base is Ordino Arcalís, travelling to Grandvalira requires bookings of half a day (4 hours) or a full day. In exchange you get an instructor dedicated exclusively to you or your group, who knows the ski area and plans the day so you don't waste it going round in circles.
For advanced skiers, Grandvalira has demanding black runs and untracked snow inside the controlled area: that's covered on the advanced lessons and freeride pages. If you're travelling with children, have a look at kids' lessons and family lessons.
Price
Prices by session length: half day (4 hours) from €220 and full day (6 hours) from €380. The 2-hour lesson (from €120) is only available at my base, Ordino Arcalís.
The price is per lesson, for up to 6 people of the same level, so in a group the cost each drops a lot. Lift passes and equipment hire are extra.

Common questions
Yes. My base is Ordino Arcalís, so to travel to Grandvalira I need bookings of half a day (4 hours) or a full day. The shorter 2-hour lesson is only available at Ordino Arcalís.
It depends on the length and your level. In a half day we usually focus on one or two connected sectors so we don't waste time travelling; a full day gives us time to cover more of the ski area. I know the links, so I plan the route to make the most of the lesson rather than to rack up kilometres.
Pas de la Casa wins on altitude and reliable snow, with a lively atmosphere. Soldeu and El Tarter are the heart of the ski area, with tree-lined pistes that are ideal for technique and families, and they're my usual meeting points. Depending on whether you want high snow, atmosphere or sheltered technique work, I'll suggest one or the other.
Most often in Soldeu or El Tarter, for their good access and space, but if you're staying in Pas de la Casa or Encamp we meet there. When you book on WhatsApp I'll confirm the exact meeting point for the sector we choose.
The general Grandvalira pass gives access to the whole connected ski area, so you can move between sectors on the same pass. There are also sector and single-day passes; if you're not sure which suits your dates, I'll advise you before you buy.
Yes, it has wide beginner areas and, being high up, usually good snow even when the season is struggling lower down. The one caveat is that it's the highest and most exposed sector: if the day brings strong wind, it's sometimes better to drop to a more sheltered sector such as Grau Roig or Soldeu — something we decide on the day.
Yes. Lessons are in English — or Spanish or Catalan — and the language is confirmed when you book, which the big ski schools can't always guarantee.
I'll confirm availability and the meeting point within 24 hours. No commitment.
