Official opening and closing dates
Grandvalira and Ordino Arcalís open on Friday 4 December 2026 and plan to close on 4 April 2027, weather and snow permitting, with lifts running daily — bank holidays included — from 9am to 5pm. Pal Arinsal had not published its dates when this page was written.
Those dates are a forecast, not a guarantee: with an early snowfall resorts can open sooner, and with a poor start they may delay or open only part of the ski area. In 2025-26, for example, Ordino Arcalís opened a week earlier than planned.
The broad season runs from early December to early April, with the heart of it — everything open — between December and March.

What each month is like in Andorra
December and Christmas
The season gets going and the Christmas atmosphere arrives. The weeks around Christmas and New Year are among the busiest and priciest of the year. Good if you want atmosphere, but book everything early. The first half of December, before the school holidays, is usually quiet.
January
For many people the best month: usually the best snow of the year (cold and dry after snowfalls), fewer people than Christmas and lower prices. If you can travel after the first week, it's the sweet spot.
February
Still great snow, but it's peak season — half-term in the UK and school holidays in Spain and France mean more people and higher prices. Book lessons several weeks ahead.
March
An underrated month: longer, milder days, good snow high up and fewer crowds outside the holiday weeks. Excellent for beginners and families thanks to the light and the temperature.
April and closing
Spring snow: firm first thing and softer by midday. A relaxed atmosphere and low prices, although lower pistes may begin to close. Higher resorts such as Ordino Arcalís hold on best. In 2027, Easter falls early (Easter Sunday is 28 March), so the holidays land with the season still in full swing.

When is the snow best?
The best snow usually comes in January and February, when temperatures are lowest and snowfalls most frequent. Aspect matters as much as the calendar: Ordino Arcalís, being the highest and facing north, holds its snow better than the rest and often has good conditions later in the season. Pas de la Casa, at over 2,000 m, also has some of the most reliable snow in Grandvalira.
Crowds and price
Peak weeks versus mid-season
Peak weeks — Christmas and New Year, February half-term and Easter — have the best atmosphere, but also the crowds, the highest prices and lessons that book out. Mid-season — January and March, outside the holidays — gives you the best value: quieter pistes, lower prices and far more availability for lessons and accommodation.
If your dates are fixed to a school holiday, book early: private lessons in those weeks fill up 2 to 3 weeks ahead. If you can choose freely, midweek in January or March is the best skiing in Andorra for the money.
