Private ski lessons in Pas de la Casa — high-altitude snow, your own instructor
Pas de la Casa is the highest village in Andorra and one of Grandvalira's best-known sectors. Book a qualified, English-speaking instructor for you or your group: the same instructor every day, a plan built around your level and a day organised around the snow and the wind.

Skiing in Pas de la Casa: altitude and reliable snow
Pas de la Casa sits above 2,000 metres, right on the French border at the foot of the Envalira pass, and it's one of the six sectors of Grandvalira — the largest ski area in the Pyrenees. Its big advantage is altitude: it has some of the most reliable snow in the whole of Grandvalira and usually keeps good conditions even when lower slopes are struggling.
The terrain is wide, open and high, linked by piste to Grau Roig on the other side of the pass and to the rest of the ski area — Soldeu, El Tarter, Canillo and Encamp — on the same lift pass.
By level
What we work on in Pas de la Casa at each level
Intermediate and advanced skiers — where Pas de la Casa shines
Lots of wide blue and red runs, steeper pitches and links right across Grandvalira, so you won't repeat yourself even over several days. It's the perfect place to build mileage and work on technique at speed: carving, short turns and confidence on steeper terrain. The feeling of space and altitude is addictive.
Beginners
Pas de la Casa has beginner areas and good snow, but they're high and can be exposed to the wind. On a calm day it's lovely; on a windy one, beginners are better off in a more sheltered sector. With your own instructor, that's a call I make on the day, so your lesson isn't wasted.
Teenagers and the snowpark
Snowpark areas are accessible from the sector, so teenagers who already ski and want to try freestyle can have a go — with technique and safety first.
Wind and weather
Wind and altitude: how I plan your lesson
Being the highest sector has two sides. The good: quality snow and a season that holds up well. The less good: exposure to the wind. On stormy days, high-altitude lifts can close or wind-blown snow can reduce visibility.
It's not a problem, just something to manage — and it's one of the real advantages of having your own instructor. If the forecast is for strong wind, we move the meeting point to a more sheltered sector such as Grau Roig, El Tarter or Soldeu, all on the same lift pass, so you don't lose your lesson.
Families
Ski lessons for kids and families in Pas de la Casa
Pas de la Casa is convenient for families: the village is at the foot of the slopes and ski hire, accommodation and restaurants are all close by, which makes the logistics with children much simpler. The one caveat is the wind at altitude: to start completely from scratch with young children, on some days a more sheltered sector like El Tarter is more comfortable. We decide based on the forecast and your children's ages.
Children from age 3, always with the same instructor. Because the minimum booking in Grandvalira is half a day, with little ones we can split the time: part with the kids, part with the adults.
Where we meet
Where we meet
If you're staying in Pas de la Casa, we meet there. My usual meeting points in Grandvalira are Soldeu and El Tarter, but we go wherever makes most sense for you and for the day's conditions — especially important here, with the wind. I'll confirm the exact meeting point on WhatsApp when you book.
In a half-day lesson we usually focus on one or two connected sectors so we don't waste time getting around; a full day gives us time to cover more of Grandvalira.
Prices
Ski lesson prices in Pas de la Casa
In Pas de la Casa and the rest of Grandvalira I teach half-day and full-day lessons (my base is Ordino Arcalís, where 2-hour lessons are also available):
- Half day (4 hours) → from €220

Prices are per lesson, for up to 6 people of the same level — a full day for four people works out at €95 each. Lift passes and equipment hire are extra.
Practical
Getting there, lift passes and après-ski
Arriving from France, Pas de la Casa is the first town you reach after the border. From Andorra la Vella, you drive up the main road through Encamp and over the Envalira pass; in high season, with snow, the pass can get busy, so it's worth setting off early. There's parking in the village and at the foot of the slopes.
You'll need the Grandvalira lift pass, which covers all six sectors. For the 2026-27 season, Grandvalira is due to open on 4 December 2026 and close on 4 April 2027, snow permitting.
Off the slopes, Pas de la Casa has the liveliest après-ski in Grandvalira, plus duty-free border shopping: tobacco, perfume, alcohol and electronics are usually cheaper than in Spain or France.

Common questions
Frequently asked questions about ski lessons in Pas de la Casa
Can I have private ski lessons in Pas de la Casa?
Yes. I teach in Pas de la Casa and across Grandvalira with bookings of half a day (4 hours) or a full day, as my base is Ordino Arcalís. If you're staying in Pas de la Casa, we meet there.
Is Pas de la Casa good for beginners?
It has beginner areas and, thanks to its altitude, good snow. But it's the highest and most exposed sector of Grandvalira, so on windy days beginners are better off in a more sheltered sector such as Grau Roig or Soldeu — something I decide on the day.
Is it very windy in Pas de la Casa?
As the highest and most open sector, it's the most exposed to the wind. Most days it's not a problem, but on stormy days high lifts can close or visibility can drop. When that happens we move to a more sheltered sector — Grau Roig, El Tarter or Soldeu — on the same lift pass.
Do you teach in English?
Yes. Lessons are in English — or Spanish or Catalan, if you prefer — and the language is confirmed when you book.
Is Pas de la Casa or Soldeu better for lessons?
Pas de la Casa wins on altitude, reliable snow and atmosphere; Soldeu is more sheltered and balanced, and very good for technique and families. They share the same lift pass and are connected, so you can ski both.
Why is there a minimum of half a day in Pas de la Casa?
My base is Ordino Arcalís, on the other side of Andorra, so to come to Grandvalira I need bookings of at least half a day (4 hours) or a full day. Shorter 2-hour lessons are available at Ordino Arcalís.
Which lift pass do I need for Pas de la Casa?
The Grandvalira lift pass, which covers all six connected sectors: Pas de la Casa, Grau Roig, Soldeu, El Tarter, Canillo and Encamp. The lesson price doesn't include it.
How high is Pas de la Casa?
Pas de la Casa is the highest village in Andorra, above 2,000 metres, at the foot of the Envalira pass. That altitude is why it has some of the most reliable snow in the whole of Grandvalira.
