Private ski lessons in Ordino Arcalís — Andorra's quietest resort

Ordino Arcalís is my home resort and the one I know best. It's the highest and least crowded resort in Andorra, with the best snow in the country thanks to its north-facing slopes. Ideal for learning in peace and, at the same time, Andorra's freeride benchmark. Here I teach lessons of any length, with no minimum booking.

Why I teach most of my lessons in Ordino Arcalís

Ordino Arcalís is the resort I know best and my usual base. It sits in the north of the country, at the top of the Vall del Nord, and has one feature that sets it apart from the rest of Andorra: being the highest and north-facing, it holds its snow far better. When other resorts have skied-out or spring snow, here there's often snow in better condition.

As it's my base, there's no half-day minimum like the one I need for travelling to other resorts: in Ordino Arcalís I can teach you a short 2-hour lesson or a full day, with complete flexibility on timings. I know every run, every lift and every corner where good snow tends to last.

To start out

Ordino Arcalís for learning: wide pistes and no pressure

If you're looking for somewhere calm to have your lessons, this is the resort. It's the least crowded in Andorra: there's real space to work without skiers flying past you, which for a beginner or a child makes all the difference. The beginner areas are wide and the atmosphere is relaxed, without the queues of the bigger ski areas.

It's the resort I most often recommend to families starting out and to anyone who has never skied: you learn better calmly, and Ordino Arcalís makes that easier than anywhere else.

The other side

Freeride and fresh snow in Ordino Arcalís

The same resort that's ideal for learning is also Andorra's freeride benchmark. Ordino Arcalís has the most accessible untracked terrain in the country and has hosted the international freeride circuit. That makes it the perfect place for untracked snow sessions inside the resort's marked and controlled area.

If you already handle the pistes and want your first runs on fresh snow safely, we work on it here. All the detail is on the freeride lessons page, and the technique side on advanced lessons.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions about lessons in Ordino Arcalís

Why does Ordino Arcalís have better snow than other Andorran resorts?

Two reasons: it's Andorra's highest resort and it faces north, so it gets less sun and the snow keeps much better. When other resorts are already skied out or turning to spring snow, Ordino Arcalís often still has snow in better condition, especially first thing and in the higher areas.

Is Ordino Arcalís good for learning to ski?

It's one of the best in Andorra for starting out. Being the least crowded, there's real space to work without people flying past, and the beginner areas are wide and calm. For beginners, children and families starting out, that calm makes a huge difference compared with a big, busy ski area.

Can you ski freeride safely in Ordino Arcalís?

Yes, it's Andorra's freeride benchmark. I teach initiation on untracked snow inside the resort's marked and controlled area, which is patrolled, safe terrain. I don't do off-piste mountain skiing or ski touring on uncontrolled terrain: that requires a qualified mountain guide.

Do you teach lessons of any length at Ordino Arcalís?

Yes. As it's my home resort, there's no half-day minimum here: you can book anything from a short 2-hour lesson to a full day, with complete flexibility on timings.

How do I get to Ordino Arcalís and where do we meet?

Ordino Arcalís is in the north of Andorra, up through the parish of Ordino towards La Coma and El Serrat. There's parking at the base. When you book on WhatsApp I'll confirm the exact meeting point so there's no confusion.

Is Ordino Arcalís expensive or very crowded?

It's the opposite of crowded: it's the quietest resort in the country. As for price, the lift pass is in line with the rest of Andorra, which is still one of the most affordable ski destinations in Europe. If you want calm and good snow, it's one of the best value-for-peace options.

Do you teach in English at Ordino Arcalís?

Yes. Lessons are in English — or Spanish or Catalan — and the language is confirmed when you book.

Shall we book your lesson in Ordino Arcalís?

Any length, at my home resort. I'll reply within 24 hours.
