Private ski lessons in Soldeu — your own instructor in Grandvalira
Soldeu is the heart of Grandvalira and one of my usual meeting points in the resort. Book a qualified instructor just for you or your group: lessons in English, the same instructor every day and a plan built around your level — whether it's your first day on skis or you want to ski the blacks.

Soldeu
Why Soldeu is a great place for ski lessons
Soldeu is one of Grandvalira's six sectors, in the parish of Canillo in eastern Andorra. It's the heart of the ski area: a gondola goes up from the village itself, the pistes link straight to El Tarter and the rest of Grandvalira, and it has even hosted World Cup finals.
For lessons, what matters is the terrain: wide, long pistes with stretches through the forest that shelter you from the wind. That makes Soldeu one of the best sectors in Grandvalira for working on technique — and a comfortable place to learn, even on grey days.
By level
What we work on in Soldeu at each level
Beginners
Soldeu has comfortable beginner areas with space to learn, plus green and blue runs that are easy to reach. We start with the basics — balance, the snowplough, stopping safely — and build up to your first full runs from top to bottom. Most of my beginners are skiing blue runs on their own after two or three days.
Intermediates
Plenty of long red runs to build confidence and fix the habits that are holding you back: weight too far back, turns that skid at the end, stiffness on steeper pitches. Soldeu's long pistes are ideal for linking turns and working on the details, run after run.
Advanced skiers
Soldeu's own black runs, plus the links to the more demanding sectors of Grandvalira, give you plenty to work on: short turns, real carving and steeper terrain. Freeride initiation on untracked snow is also possible within the resort's controlled area — see freeride lessons.
Families
Ski lessons for kids and families in Soldeu
Soldeu is one of the most comfortable sectors in Grandvalira for families: it has a snow garden for the youngest, beginner areas with room to learn and a village right at the foot of the slopes, which makes the logistics with children much easier.
With me, your children have the same instructor every day — from age 3 — and you get a quick update after each session. Because the minimum booking in Grandvalira is half a day, with little ones we can split the time: part with the kids, part with the adults, or a joint family lesson if your levels are similar.
Where we meet
Where we meet in Soldeu
Soldeu and El Tarter are my usual meeting points in Grandvalira: they have the best access and the most space to work on technique without the crowds. When you book, I'll confirm the exact meeting point on WhatsApp — no queuing at ski school desks and no waiting to be put into a group.
If you're staying elsewhere in Grandvalira, we can meet there instead: it's all one connected ski area on the same lift pass.
Private or group?
A private instructor or ski school in Soldeu?
Soldeu has the resort's ski school, and group lessons are a sensible option if you're on your own and on a tight budget. The difference with a private instructor is who's in charge of your progress: with me, you know who your instructor is before you arrive, it's the same person every day, the lesson is guaranteed in English and the pace is yours.
| Group lessons | Private lessons with me | |
|---|---|---|
| Students per instructor | 6 to 10 | 1 to 6 (your group) |
| Same instructor every day | Not guaranteed | Always me |
| Language | Subject to availability | English, guaranteed |
| Schedule | Fixed start days | We agree it |
| Pace | Set by the group | Set by you |
Prices
Ski lesson prices in Soldeu
In Soldeu and the rest of Grandvalira I teach half-day and full-day lessons (my base is Ordino Arcalís, where 2-hour lessons are also available):
- Half day (4 hours) → from €220
- Full day (6 hours) → from €380
The price is per lesson, for up to 6 people of the same level — so a 4-hour lesson for four people works out at €55 each. Lift passes and equipment hire are extra.
Practical
Getting to Soldeu, lift passes and après-ski
Soldeu is on the main road that runs through Canillo, with parking at the base, and you go up to the slopes on the gondola from the village. You'll need the Grandvalira lift pass, which covers all six sectors: Soldeu, El Tarter, Pas de la Casa, Grau Roig, Canillo and Encamp.
For the 2026-27 season, Grandvalira is due to open on 4 December 2026 and close on 4 April 2027, snow permitting.
After skiing, Soldeu has a lively but relaxed après-ski, with bars, terraces and restaurants that fill up in the late afternoon — busy, but without the party atmosphere of Pas de la Casa. With accommodation, ski hire and services right next to the gondola, the day's logistics are among the easiest in Grandvalira.

Common questions
Frequently asked questions about ski lessons in Soldeu
Can I have private ski lessons in Soldeu?
Yes. Soldeu is one of my usual meeting points in Grandvalira. I teach there with bookings of half a day (4 hours) or a full day, as my base is Ordino Arcalís, on the other side of Andorra.
Is Soldeu good for beginners?
Yes. It has beginner areas with space to learn, a snow garden for young children and easy-to-reach green and blue runs. It's one of the most comfortable sectors in Grandvalira for starting out and for families.
Do you teach in English?
Yes. Lessons are in English — or Spanish or Catalan, if you prefer — and the language is confirmed when you book, so there's no “subject to availability”.
Is Soldeu or Pas de la Casa better for lessons?
It depends on what you're after. Soldeu is more sheltered and balanced, with long pistes through the forest that are great for technique and for families. Pas de la Casa is higher, with more reliable snow and a livelier atmosphere. They share the same lift pass and are connected, so we can choose on the day.
Why is there a minimum of half a day in Soldeu?
My base is Ordino Arcalís, so to come to Grandvalira I need bookings of at least half a day (4 hours) or a full day. Shorter 2-hour lessons are available at Ordino Arcalís.
Where do we meet in Soldeu?
Usually in Soldeu or El Tarter, which have the best access and space. When you book on WhatsApp I'll confirm the exact meeting point, and if you're staying elsewhere in Grandvalira we can meet there instead.
Can you teach young children in Soldeu?
Yes, from age 3, always with the same instructor. Because the minimum booking in Grandvalira is half a day, with little ones we can split the time: part with the kids and part with the adults.
Which lift pass do I need?
The Grandvalira lift pass, which covers all six connected sectors: Soldeu, El Tarter, Pas de la Casa, Grau Roig, Canillo and Encamp. Lessons don't include the lift pass; if you're not sure which one to buy for your dates, I'll advise you.
